Andrew has a wealth of experience in getting things done. A big picture thinker who can develop, promote and deliver abstract concepts across multiple partners. These skills have been utilised by several Government departments in supporting thinking around complex health and social issues. For example, Andrew served as a full member of the NICE obesity guidance group for the Dept of Health, has presented at No 11 Downing Street, set up a Times Educational award-winning project around school sport, and consulted on the Commonwealth Games 2002. He was identified as a future leader in public health, attending the first NHS public health leadership programme back in 2002. Andrew has also served on many regional committees within the North West and helped establish a thriving regional voluntary forum.
Andrew’s professional career is varied and he held management positions in retail environments and sales before retraining as a mature student. For the last 10 years, Andrew has been the director of an academic enterprise unit at one of the largest University’s in the UK. He has worked at bridging the policy and practice gap across many health and social care agendas through providing practical research, evaluation and consultancy support. Andrew has a unique blend of practical knowledge across the public, private and community and voluntary sectors having been contracted by banks, local Government organisations and several charities. He has experience of working on both small and large projects for example; he led a four-year evaluation of the multi-award winning £30m Barclays Spaces for Sport programme.
A skilled and inspirational trainer and facilitator, Andrew is fascinated by communication and the use and impact of language in different settings. He is a qualified management coach, certified NLP practitioner, experienced presenter and former university lecturer and researcher. Andrew enjoys developing new learning strategies and using principles of accelerated learning with different audiences.
