Carl is a NHS commissioner and has had a varied career beginning in leisure management during the mid 80’s and moving to health improvement and public health in 1992. He has since worked at various levels including direct delivery of interventions, to their design and procurement. Carl has successfully introduced evidence based activity which has attracted significant resource on a sustainable level with some of his work attracting regional, national and international interest.
Currently working on Family Weight Management and Lifestyle Support interventions he has introduced tariff payment structures that achieve outcomes and reward providers for successful delivery. Carl’s knowledge of the contracting and commissioning process and the associated performance management structures required to achieve results is recognised within his employing organisation and much wider afield. Some of Carl’s work has received national attention and he has delivered CPD sessions aimed at commissioners and is regularly engaged by stakeholders to assist in their decision making and priority planning processes. Carl enjoys regular presenter slots at various conferences and seminars and is recognised for his engaging style and the challenging topics and themes he presents.
